Storage Wars TV Show Brings Hard Core Green

Never in a million years would I think a show about storage auctions could be so amazing, edgy and really bringing going green to the masses.  Yet, it made sense one day while watching the show.

For those that don’t know, the show Storage Wars is a cable TV reality show on A&E Network; which stands for Arts and Entertainment.  It started in 2010 and shows auctioneers Dan Dotson and Laura Dotson, as well as auction hunters Dave Hester, Darrell Sheets, Barry Weiss, and the team of Jarrod Schulz and Brandi Passante. The premise is:

When rent is not paid on a storage unit for three months in California, the contents are sold by an auctioneer as a single lot of items. The show follows professional buyers who purchase the contents based only on a five-minute inspection of what they can see from the door when it is opened. The goal is to turn a profit on the merchandise.

So by default they take something old and resell it for more money.  That something wasn’t brand new or made new.  It was reused.

As we explore what we can do green this Earth Week (and like for me the year and beyond).  I just improve a little more every day.  Today’s thing to realize is that when repurposing is looked at a little differently, we can bring green to the masses.

Hey, I am not saying auctioneering is green.  No.  However, in my opinion, the auctioneering of products left in a storage unit is green, eco-friendly and repurposing.

Repurposing in my view of green business is totally a profitable venture for people; ok don’t be like a junk yard; but the idea of taking storage items that will not be used and not moving them to a landfill is GREEN!
